Cake Prices are determined on based on what you are looking for. It depends on the size, complexity, flavors, fillings, etc. that you are looking for. Fondant covered cakes are more expensive than buttercream. Fillings other than traditional or chocolate buttercream are extra, gumpaste or royal icing flowers are extra. All of these require extra materials and time, therefore they increase the overall cost.
As a starting point, for a non-wedding cake- 8 in. round, two layer, butter vanilla cake with buttercream serves ~20 and starts at $50.00. A 9x13 (quarter sheet) single-layer, butter vanilla cake with buttercream starts at $45.00.
Wedding cake prices start at $2.75 per serving for buttercream and $3.75 for rolled fondant.
Cupcake prices are based on the design and range from $20.00/dozen to $39.00/dozen.
Cake pops are $2.50 + each depending on the design.
Decorated cookies are $2.50 + each depending on the design.
"Why do your cakes cost more than the grocery store?"
Unlike most grocery stores, I bake fresh, ice, decorate, and clean up for every cake I create. I also make all of my icings and most of my fillings. I need to shop for and purchase ingredients and equipment as needed for every cake ordered. Not to mention utilities, etc. All of this adds up! ;)Not to mention, each cake is a special creation just for YOU, you are a part of the design and everything is tailored to what you are looking for in a cake- flavors, decorations, etc., not the few general options provided at your local grocery store. :)
